Synopsis
Craig Dalton was the man who planned, designed and tended to this beautiful garden. He moved to the Burrows in 1985 and immediately set about changing the garden. It was initially a spring flowering garden with a simple Orchard area but he started to plant around the house and extend the garden to just over 5 acres in size. He was also a great lover of trees and worked hard to source unusual specimen trees that are now established in the paddock area. In 2003 he met designer Julian Dowle from Gloucestershire, and together they planned even more new beds and extended into some of the surrounding farmland. In 2005, he built a brand new temple garden including a reflection pool and an all-white planting scheme and an emphasis on silver foliage. There is a great deal to see, both young and old at the Burrows, but always a changing garden. Craig created vistas, and walkways, and was a great advocate of statuary and points of interest to lead the eye further into the garden. Very sadly, Craig passed away in January 2015 and Nicky his wife continues to open the garden for the NGS in his memory.
